Workshop for (AEO) Companies on the New Customs Decisions

MTS, in coordination with the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Department of the Egyptian Customs Authority, organized a workshop entitled "Together Towards Faster Customs Clearance" on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at the Ministry of Finance headquarters. The workshop aimed to present the latest customs facilitation measures and legislative reforms designed to reduce customs clearance time for members and companies participating in the (AEO) Program.

The workshop was held as part of the Ministry of Finance's and the Egyptian Customs Authority's commitment to implementing the directives of the Prime Minister to modernize the customs system, reduce customs clearance time, and enhance the efficiency of customs operations, in line with the guidance of Mr. Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Finance, and Mr. Ahmed Amawy, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority.

The event was attended by Mr. Ahmed El Askalany, Deputy Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority and Head of the Exporters Support Unit; Dr. Walid Makki, Advisor to the Head of the Authority for Advance Clearance; Mr. Hussein Doweidar, Head of the Central Administration; Ms. Rasha Asfour, Chair of the Communication and Partnership Committee with the Business Community and Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Office of the Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority; Mr. Saleh Abdel Kader, General Manager of the General Administration of Operations; and members of the (AEO) Program team.

Representing MTS were Eng. Khaled Nassef Official Spokesman and Media Advisor; Eng. Mohamed Khamis, Business Analysis Manager,  Mr. Mahmoud Shuaib, Electronic Services Manager; and Menna Elbana, Marketing and Public Relations Specialist.

The workshop was attended by 90 participants from the business community, representing 60 (AEO) companies.

The session commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Ahmed El Askalany, who welcomed the attendees and emphasized the Ministry of Finance's and the Egyptian Customs Authority's strong commitment to maintaining direct dialogue with the business community as a key pillar of customs modernization. He also highlighted the Authority's ongoing development plan and reviewed the latest customs initiatives, including the implementation of the Comprehensive Risk Management System, enhancements to Delivery Order procedures, and other measures aimed at reducing customs clearance time and facilitating trade.

Following this, Mr. Hussein Doweidar addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of continuous cooperation between the Egyptian Customs Authority and the (AEO) Program in achieving shared objectives and supporting customs reform initiatives.

In his remarks, Eng. Khaled Nassef highlighted the pivotal role of  NAFEZA platform in supporting the government's efforts to reduce customs clearance time. He reaffirmed the platform's commitment to simplifying customs procedures through digital transformation, facilitating cross-border trade, and delivering greater value to the business community.

Eng. Mohamed Khamis then delivered a presentation outlining the latest facilitation measures introduced to accelerate customs clearance. The presentation covered key developments, including the Advance Clearance System, enhancements to Delivery Order procedures, and recent updates to the Comprehensive Risk Management System, demonstrating how these initiatives contribute to faster and more efficient customs processes.

The workshop concluded with remarks by Dr. Walid Mekky, followed by an interactive Q&A session during which attendees raised numerous questions and inquiries. Representatives from both the Egyptian Customs Authority and MTS addressed the participants' questions, reinforcing the ongoing partnership with the business community and providing further clarification on the implementation of the new customs decisions and procedures.
